a poem

Here, there is always the sound of water
cascading through my being, cleansing,
lulling me to a calm wakefulness.
What joy to be back among the
trees and the gentle
creatures of the
woods.
There
are old
souls here;
I walk among
friends and peers.
I have glimpsed a new way:
to walk on the Earth as a Light
being, perennially vibrant and youthful,
weaving my way into the Divine Plan.
Yet there are perhaps hundreds
of Earth lifetimes calling
me back to the natural
order, back to old
age and death.
Living here
in rhythm with
the seasons attunes
me to the way it has been.
It would be easy to lose myself
in the peace of tradition
and death, and it is
here I would come
to die.
To live,
that's choice
made with intention,
lived out in the moment.
What is my destiny?
My destiny is my choice.
